In my latest series of works, "Deconstructed," I embark on an exploration of the delicate art of folding origami cranes, painting the shrunken surface, unfolding it, and revealing a spectrum of fragmented colors formed on the surface. Beyond their cultural significance, the crane is a powerful symbol of femininity, embodying grace, resilience, and longevity. The choice of colors is deliberate, with hues that resonate with my emotional spectrum—soft pastels representing vulnerability, deep tones embodying strength, and subtle gradients reflecting the nuanced layers of the feminine experience. The empty negative space alludes to how much growth I have room for. However, the true essence of the artwork lies in the later unfolding, a metaphor for the layers of identity, experience, and emotion that women navigate. The viewer is invited to witness the interplay of colors as they intertwine and evolve, mirroring the multifaceted nature of femininity, without understanding quite what they’re looking at.
